Raising funds

To demonstrate our on-going commitment to improve the social and economic welfare of our coffee growers, in addition to a direct donation from Costa, we've launched a variety of ways to raise funds for the Costa Foundation.

  • National centrally-driven campaigns
  • Store fundraising activities
  • Individual team member fundraising
  • National annual Costa Foundation Day
  • Customer over-the-counter donations
  • Payroll Giving contributions
  • Sale of product
  • Donations from partner organisations

Whitbread/Costa also match pound for pound all store fundraising activity

Individual donations can also be increased through Gift Aid. Gift Aid is a government-led initiative that allows charities such as the Costa Foundation to reclaim the basic rate income tax on donations made to them by UK taxpayers who sign a Gift Aid declaration.

Drop raises 1000 pounds for Foundation

It took Huntingdon store manager Mark Christie just a few minutes to raise around 1,000 pounds for the Costa Foundation.

Mark joined forces with Marie Curie Cancer Care, who organised a fund-raising day at the towns fire station in conjunction with the army, and got customers to sponsor him abseiling down the training tower.

Raffle raises 4,400 pounds

A raffle at the dinner following Whitbread property teams annual supplier conference has raised a bumper 4,400 pounds for the Costa Foundation. The total includes 750 pounds from the companys Match Funding scheme.

The guests, who had earlier been shown a film of the Foundations first project in Colombia, were invited to write their name on one or more! - 10 pound notes, which were then put into a draw. Six winning tickets were then drawn by star turn Roy Walker, the former Catchphrase host, for prizes which had themselves been donated by suppliers. These included hampers from Harrods and John Lewis, a digital camera, champagne, a Costa coffee machine and a weekend break at a Marriott hotel.

Roadshow cash will fund half the bill for Anatoli playground

The Costa Foundation is to provide additional financial support for a playground for children at the Anatoli School in La Mesa, Colombia.

The building of the school was the first project undertaken by the Foundation, and when they saw the result, store managers at the UK Retail roadshow donated 1,115 pounds to provide somewhere for the children to play. This grew to 1,865 pounds thanks to the Whitbread Match Funding scheme.
